Crews have started work along Daniels Parkway as Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization Complete Streets Initiative moves into its next phase.

Lee MPO CSI Progress Photo 1Crews working with Owens-Ames-Kimball Co. will install an 8-foot asphalt and concrete shared-use pathway alongthe south side of Daniels Parkway between Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Jetport Commerce Parkway and a 10-foot asphalt and concrete shared-use pathway from Treeline Avenue to JetBlue Park, a total distance of nearly 5 miles. The new pathway will bridge a critical gap in the bike and pedestrian infrastructure along Daniels Parkway and will make this busy corridor safer and more accessible for all users.

Work will also begin soon on the Florida Gulf Coast University Campus.

Lee MPO CSI Progress Photo 2In the coming weeks, crews will start clearing areas near the southern entrance to FGCU in preparation for sidewalk construction. This segment will add a 10-foot, concrete shared-use path along the north side of FGCU Boulevard, replacing the existing sidewalk and add 5-foot, concrete sidewalks along the south side of FGCU Boulevard and FGCU South Court.

These improvements will add connectivity for FGCU students, faculty and staff traveling to and from campus and will help make the university more accessible to the community.
