Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization Complete Streets Initiative Progress Update: March 21, 2016

Work on the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization Complete Streets Initiative progresses as crews make strides in key project areas.

Contractor Owen-Ames-Kimball, Co. (O-A-K) continues to move forward in two main areas of the Lee County Complete Streets Initiate: Colonial Boulevard and Iris Road / Constitution Circle.

construction update 3-21-16 aAlong the north side of Colonial Boulevard, crews continue to build a lime rock foundation for a ten-foot, asphalt shared-use path. When complete, the path will span 1.88 miles between Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard and Winkler Avenue.

construction update 3-21-16 bWork also continues on Iris Road/Constitution Circle where crews are installing five-foot, concrete sidewalks along the east side of the road. This work includes forming new sidewalks, grading and replacing sod in construction areas. Once complete, this section of sidewalk will connect to three miles of newly-installed sidewalks in the San Carlos Park community along Constitution Circle, Sanibel Boulevard and Lee Road.
