Walkers on Constitution Boulevard

The Bi-County Connector route links Lee and Collier Counties through a series of pathways across some of the fastest-growing areas of Southwest Florida. Together, they form a 22.8 mile travel corridor from south Fort Myers, through the Village of Estero, City of Bonita Springs and south into North Naples. The Lee County Complete Streets Initiative makes traveling this network safer than ever by adding new sidewalks to the San Carlos Park Community. This tight-knit neighborhood now has more walking options to enjoy a weekend stroll or travel through. The new sidewalks and school zone flashing lights also make it safer for kids and families to walk to and from San Carlos Park Elementary School.

The project includes building new 5-foot concrete sidewalks and upgrading storm water drainage on the south side of Constitution Boulevard between U.S. 41 and Constitution Circle, along the east side of Constitution Circle and Iris Road between Constitution Boulevard and Sanibel Boulevard, along the south side of Sanibel Boulevard between Iris Road and Lee Road and along the east side of Lee Road between Sanibel Boulevard and Alico Road. As part of this project, safety features such as solar-powered school zone flashing lights, a refuge island, handrails along the sidewalk over the canals, and ADA accessible bus stops with ramps have been installed in the area.
